Varjostaa review: Baudelaire In Braille part II.

In general, I love acoustic versions of HIM songs and already the first seconds of In Venere Veritas gives me hope that the Baudelaire In Braille would not be exception... give us the opportunity to hear the whole album in acoustic version was great idea.

This time, I will not speak about songs individually, as I did at Screamworks review. After only first minutes, I feel that this piece of art deserves to be considered as a whole. Tracks cleared of several-weeks, perhaps months work with different instruments and effects, conceived very easily and clearly gives shine for Valo's voice and poetism.

True is that some could be simplified even more, in my case it is Heartkiller which somehow undermined my overall opinion of the bonus disc, with some he could play and show us more of him....
Sometimes the idea occur to me that Ville failed to completely abandon sound effects (which I would not use in acoustic version), that it could be a bit difficult for him to depersonalize of the album, finished only a moment before. As almost of all albums and generally HIM music, also Baudelaire In Braille is full of contradictions...

It may sound little bit different if Ville would recorded the acoustic version of the album before he "rapes" those basic tones with various sound effects, but it is not so feverish result as he claimed in an interview with Kelly, at least not in a bad sense. Some strong moments leaves me in no doubts that it will belong in often listened HIM albums.


Celkovo, milujem akustické verzie HIM skladieb, a už prvé sekundy sekundy In Venere Veritas mi dávajú nádej, že pri Baudelaire In Braille to nebude inak.... dať nám príležitosť vypočuť si celý album v akustickej verzii bol veľmi dobrý nápad.

Tentokrát sa nebudem vyjadrovať ku skladbám samostatne, ako som to urobila pri recenzii Screamworks. Už po prvých minútach mám pocit, že toto dielo si zaslúži posudzovať ako celok. Skladby očistené od niekoľko-týždňovej, možno mesačnej práce s nástrojmi a rôznych efektami, poňaté veľmi jednoducho a čisto dávajú vyniknúť Valovmu hlasu a jeho poetickosti.

Je pravda, niektoré mohli byť zjednodušené ešte viac, v mojom prípade je to Heartkiller, ktorý mi tak trocha naštrbil celkovú mienku z bonusového disku, s niektorými sa zas naopak mohol pohrať a viac odhaliť čo v ňom je....
Občas sa mi totiž vnucovala myšlienka, že sa Ville nedokázal tak úplne vzdať zvukových efektov, ktoré by som možno ja pri akustických verziách nevolila, že mu možno bolo ťažké sa odosobniť od albumu, ktorý len moment predtým dokončil. Naozaj, ako takmer všetky albumy a celkovo tvorba HIM aj Baudelaire In Braille je plný rozporov....

Celé by to malo ešte iné rozmery keby akustickú verziu albumu Ville nahrá pred tým, ako tie základné tóny "znásilní" rôznymi zvukovými efektami, no nie je to až tak výsledok horúčok ako Ville tvrdil v rozhovore s Kelly, minimálne nie v zlom zmysle. Niekoľko silných momentov ma nenecháva na pochybách, že sa bude radiť medzi mnou často počúvané HIM počiny.
